【这东西有什么用】

在PS3上安装其他操作系统需要两个文件，Other OS Installer（SCE提供），Other OS boot loader（第三方提供）
有了这两个文件，任何支持PS3的操作系统，都可以安装在PS3上

【这东西怎么安装】

PC下载，随便放在什么东西上，根目录下建立PS3目录，在PS3目录内建立otheros目录，把SCE提供otheros.self和第三方提供的otheros.bld放在otheros目录下
PS3上，[Settings] > [System Settings] > [Install Other OS] ，会找到这个 Installer，点OK安装即可
安装好了以后，[Settings] > [System Settings] > [Default System] > "Other OS"，就可以选择了

以后无论什么黄狗，绿狗，只要是好狗，都可以安装了

黄狗ISO 11月27日发布，以上过程会自动安装。

比如前两天那个Fedora Core 5 PPC打过补丁以后应该可以装了（非官方，未经测试）

It's here guys! And it's a heck of a lot quicker than I had anticipated. Remember that mysterious Addon packages CD that we were talking about; the CD that supposedly contained the kboot image for the Fedora Core 5? Well, it's out, and you can download it right now!

The only thing remaining right now is the OtherOS installer which will be released by Sony in the coming few days. And looking at the speed at which the things are being released, I'd give it a week for the void to be filled. For all the lucky Japanese people, you're just a few inches away from having Linux on your PS3s. For our American readers, well, you'll be lucky to get one on launch day. But I guess I can leave that for some other day.

For now, I suggest that all the Linux enthusiasts get started by having the Fedora Core 5 DVD image and this Addon CD downloaded. All you'll need once the PS3 comes out is the OtherOS installer. I'm giving out the link to the Fedora Core 5 DVD download. Personally, I haven't tested Linux on the PS3 yet for obvious reasons. But just to be safe, I'd advise you guys to download the DVD version.

Be advised that you'll still need to wait for the OtherOS installer to show up on the PLAYSTATION 3 Open Platform site.
