Thanks to the crew over at AllAsus, we have some confirmed information about the Eee PC. These answers are straight from their Asus representative contact. Unfortunately, it’s not what we want to hear… 1. Asus is not bringing the $199 model to the United States. The cheapest US model will be $259 2. The RAM and the Flash storage are both embedded. You can NOT upgrade them Disappointing, to say the least.
Before even releasing the first Eee PC (or even it’s official specifications), Asus are apparently comfortable shedding light on the next generation Eee PC intended for release in April, 2008. According to an article in Digitimes: * plans to ship 200k-300k Eee PCs by the end of this year * 3 million Eee PCs annually starting next year * supplies are sufficient for now, LCD and battery are the most difficult to obtain * first batch of Eee PC’s in 2nd half of september, the 4gb/512mb ram variant * 2nd generation Eee PC in April 2008, Intel’s Merom processors, fanless
