Microsoft confirmed it had plans to launch an Avatar Store sometime in 2009 as well as offer branded and game-related clothing. Also today we learned Xbox 360 gamers will have the chance to update their avatar's wardrobe by achieving certain goals in a game that will unlock different clothing.

Rare has told VG247 that upcoming Xbox 360 games will give players clothing and accessories for their Avatars in the same way they deliver Gamer Points.

“In time… games will be able to give away clothes and accessories just like Achievements,” said art head Lee Musgrave.

“We are currently working with multiple partners who have expressed interest in using Avatars,” added producer Stacey Law.
