Resident Evil: Village finished 2021 as the year's #8 best-selling game. Resident Evil franchise dollar sales reached a new all-time annual high for the U.S. market.

Anyways, quick 2021 NPD takes - Subs & DLC/MTX did the heavy lifting in content, but Quest 2 had a BIG Dec (more news on that coming), pushing VR game content sales higher. Evergreen games becoming more common, 3 of top 20 on the chart (including Mortal Kombat 11) for 3 years now
Hardware revenues in Dec across the 3 lead platforms very close. All finding great success and strong demand. Switch off its peak, but still leading. Gamepad variety pushing accessory sales, digital game cards rebounded to growth in Dec after being down YoY for much of the YTD.
1st party dominance on Switch suggests once again Switch is its own thing, not directly competitive like Xbox and PlayStation can be. But even the green and blue offer compelling and differentiated platforms now. The options are helping consumers of all types find what they like.
In other words... gaming is not zero sum. The pool will continue to grow as the industry offers more options in what to play, where to play and even the ways in which to engage. Getting to growth no small feat after 2020, future remains incredibly bright for the market.

Just wondering if you could compare Halo Infinite to Halo 5 debut.
I know the comparison isn't even accurate. Halo 5 had 1 week in October 2015 and Halo Infinite is only the campaign with 4 weeks in December, but it would be an interesting note.
@MatPiscatella
As you say, it's a problematic comp.
