The new 3DS will have longer battery life, but an AC adapter won't be included with the system in order to keep costs down (it will be available for purchase separately). Adapters from previous Nintendo hardware will be compatible.

The system will be released in white, red & black and silver & black color schemes on July 28th in Japan. A Western release date has not been confirmed.

Namco Bandai Developing Next Smash Bros.

It was revealed during today's Nintendo Direct Broadcast that Namco Bandai will be developing the next Super Smash Bros. games alongside Kid Icarus team Sora. The titles were previously announced for Wii U and 3DS. Series creator Masahiro Sakurai will still be heading up the project, which is normally developed by his HAL Laboratory team.

Yoshito Higuchi, who produced Tales of Vesperia, will be the games' director. Namco Bandai's Kenya Kobayashi will be producing the titles. Comment from Sakurai and Kobayashu are to follow soon - stay tuned to IGN for all the latest.

Nintendo announced during the Japanese version of today's Nintendo Direct broadcast that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will support paid DLC. Players will be able to purchase additional stages for Coin Rush mode after the game releases. Pricing details weren't revealed at this time.
