ASUS has just unveiled its latest portable computer system, specifically designed to provide gaming enthusiasts with a new high-performance solution that delivers the necessary power required by the latest gaming applications. Simply dubbed W90, the new laptop could seriously compete with some of the high-end gaming desktops on the market, as it is built using the latest in portable computing technology, combining solutions from major chip makers, including Intel, NVIDIA and AMD. The Taiwanese company even goes as far as claiming that its new laptop is capable of providing a jaw-dropping 3D Mark 2006 score of 15,000 points.



With the new release ASUS is basically pushing the envelope on the portable gaming market, providing a solution that could potentially set the company as one of the main competitors against leading system makers such as Dell, Alienware or HP. The W90 has been designed to support a dual-graphics ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4870 X2 graphics solution, which ultimately enables the 18.4-inch widescreen laptop to achieve an amazing 3D Mark score of 15,000 points. The system can also be equipped with other graphics solutions, including an NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS graphics chip or the ATI Mobility HD 3850 graphics, with CrossFireX technology.



The W90, which is based on Intel's X38 and ICH10R chipset combo, can be featured with four different Intel Core 2 Duo processors, including the T9600, T9400, P8600 or P8400, depending on the user's choice. Up to 6GB of DDR2 memory can be installed on the 3-SO-DIMM slots, while the display size can also be configured to 17-inches. On the storage side, the ASUS W90 is capable of providing a dual-hard drive solution for a maximum of 1TB of storage space.



Additionally, the laptop is equipped with a 2MP webcam, 802.11 Draft N wireless, Bluetooth, Gigabit Ethernet and 5.1 channel Altec Lansing speakers. On the port side, users will be able to take advantage of 1 HDMI, one E-SATA, four USB 2.0 ports, IEEE 1394, VGA-out, 8-in-1 card reader, Express Card and infrared.
