Wenger - Why I don't favour a winter break

Arsène Wenger is well aware of the strain on his squad over the next couple of months but he is NOT in favour of a winter break. The Arsenal manager left Cesc Fabregas and Alex Hleb back in London for the Champions League tie at Slavia Prague.

Wenger knows his side face a spell of 13 games in six weeks after the next international break. It is a hectic timetable in which Arsenal will be fighting for trophies on four fronts. But despite that, the Frenchman would not want to follow the Continental model of a winter recess.   
   


  
  Rosicky injury is 'minor, minor, minor'
Tomas Rosicky’s groin injury is not as bad as first thought. The Czech midfielder was not available for the Slavia Prague game but Arsène Wenger is confident that Rosicky will be fit to face Reading on Monday night. "He had a scan today and it came back clear," said Wenger.   
   


  
  Wenger - My problem with player quotas
Arsène Wenger believes quotas on foreign players are a thing of the past. The issue has hit the headlines again after Fifa president Sepp Blatter proposed starting XIs be restricted to just five overseas stars in order to nurture home-grown talent. Sir Alex Ferguson lent his support to the idea.

Dear Supporter,

I felt we were in control against Reading, but we needed to be patient. They didn't come at us and they wanted to catch us on the break - it was us going at them, we were always in control.

Scoring a goal just before half time was important. I didn't want my team to get frustrated and we knew we needed to be patient. Maybe the first goal, coming when it did, was the killer for Reading.

The 3-1 win means we are back on top of the Premier League for the international break. We wanted to get back in charge and we have a game in hand, so at the moment it is going well.

Once again the players have showed their character. It's enjoyable to watch them and work with them. They are hungry, they have a fantastic spirit and attitude.

There is a great bonding in the team and when you have these ingredients plus the talents we have, you can be very hopeful for the future.
