TVShowsonDVD.com has posted follow up news on the recent reacquirement of all Sunbow properties (including the original G1 Transformers series) and what this means for the future release status of said properties, which you can view here.

In regards to that, no new information is mentioned, though one item of note is included near the end of the message: the live action Transformers Movie, directed by Michael Bay and starring Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull star Shia LaBeouf, will be released on the Blu-Ray format September 2nd in a two disc special edition!

Paramount Home Entertainment has now officially confirmed the release date as September 2. No cover art or pricing details have been released yet, but they have provided a full list of the special features to be found on this two-disc release. The film stars Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Giibson and John Turturro.

From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg comes a thrilling battle between the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons. When their epic struggle comes to Earth, all that stands between the Decepticons and ultimate power is a clue held by young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Unaware that he is mankind's last chance for survival, Sam and Bumblebee, his robot disguised as a car, are in a heart-pounding race against an enemy unlike anything anyone has seen before. It's the incredible, breath-taking film spectacular that USA Today says "will appeal to the kid in all of us."
