Manchester United's pursuit of Brazilian prospect Douglas Costa is set to be re-awakened this week, as the Red Devils' summer transfer business seeks to regain some momentum after missing out on the likes of Karim Benzema, who went to Real Madrid.
United were heavily linked with the player last month, but the trail seemed to have gone cold when Costa's club, Brazilian outfit Gremio, refused to allow the player out on loan. The Mancunians also reportedly balked at the South American club's valuation of the player, seemingly around £21 million.
United will, according to The Guardian, offer an initial fee of £7 million for the 18-year-old, with a series of related add-ons, which they see as a more realistic fee for a player who has not yet played 20 senior games.
Gremio could limit their options if they continue to play hardball over the size of the fee, which has already frightened off Manchester City apparently, and may well be more open to negotiation now.

New Manchester United signing Michael Owen is still having half his wages paid by former club Newcastle United, according to north-east source The Sunday Sun.
The English tabloid has revealed that the England international is owed £220,000 by the relegated Magpies.
The former Liverpool striker cost the north east club £37 million in transfer funds and wages, and is entitled to have any shortfall in his wages at United made up for four weeks under severance rules.
The 29-year-old has apparently taken a pay cut of £105,000 to £50,000 since moving to Old Trafford, and is entitled to have the shortfall made up for a month.

Manchester United are reportedly closing in on a deal for Barcelona striker Samuel Eto¡¯o as they prepare to bid ¢ã29 million for the Cameroon international.
The News of the World claims that the English champions will offer Eto¡¯o a four-year deal, worth £150,000 a week, in order to secure their man.
Neighbours Manchester City had looked favourites to sign the 28-year-old, but Mark Hughes¡¯ side bowed out of the race on Friday, leaving the path clear for United.
The report goes on to say that Eto¡¯o has already informed Barcelona president Joan Laporta that he will leave the Catalan outfit this summer, with Old Trafford now appearing to be his most likely destination.
The player¡¯s agent, Jose Maria Masalles, also insisted that money was not the striker¡¯s main motivation and that the prospect of claiming silverware was more attractive.
¡°At 28 he wants to join a club which will give him another chance of winning trophies,¡± he said.
¡°It can't be just about money. It has to be about the sporting project.¡±
