I was at WalMart (Metairie, LA location) earlier today and while browsing the electronics, I noticed the HDDVD addon for Xbox 360 was marked with a red tag to only $60. It rings up as DVD Player. I cannot confirm or deny if any other Walmarts have it for this price, since I didn't check, thus, YMMV.
